Q. What is the ACD Coating?
A. The ACD Coating is a colored concrete resurfacing material made of Portland Cement, silica sands, and acrylic bonding agents.
Q. How thick is it?
A. The classic texture is applied on existing concrete at about 3/16ths of an inch thick, and the stamped overlay is applied about 1/2 of an inch thick. However, the thickness of the ACD Coating can be varied when necessary, depending on the condition of the existing concrete.
Q. How do you apply the ACD Coating?
A. ACD offers two application processes. The classic texture is sprayed on and hand troweled. The stamped overlay is poured on and stamped with a rubber mold to give pattern and design.
Q. What is the life expectancy of the ACD Coating?
A. The ACD Coating has a life expectancy equivalent to the existing concrete surface.
Q. How long does it take to do a job?
A. On average, jobs take from 1 to 4 days depending on the condition of the existing concrete, size of the job, etc.
Q. How do you treat or control the expansion joints?
A. All existing expansion joints should remain in the deck to allow for expansion and contraction of the concrete; they are not covered with the ACD Coating. We use several techniques for treating the joints. They can be treated with plastic or wood joints, which get painted the color of the deck, or you can choose a custom joint, known as Deck-o-seal, which is a rubberized silicone, that fills the joint, making it weed-free and water repellent. The Deck-o-seal is colored to match your new ACD Coating.
Q. Will pool water stain the ACD Coating?
A. Pool water will not stain the ACD Coating.
Q. Can you correct drainage and low spots?
A. We can generally improve drainage, however, the degree of success is contingent upon the pitch of the concrete adjacent to the low spot. The low spot will have to be looked at personally by an estimator to let you know what you can expect.
Q. Do you treat cracks in the existing concrete prior to the ACD Coating?
A. Yes! We grind the cracks and apply an epoxy crack treatment application. The crack gets filled and treated with the epoxy and allows the ACD Coating to cover the crack.
Q. Will cracks re-occur?
A. We do everything possible to treat cracks and do eliminate 90% of them, but it is possible for them to return if your existing concrete shifts.
Q. What is our warranty? Commercial warranty?
A. Advanced Concrete Designs, Inc. guarantees the ACD Coating for 2 years against bond failure (including any chipping, flaking, and peeling).
Q. How does the price of the ACD Coating compare with removing and replacing concrete?
A. The cost of the ACD Coating is 25%-50% the cost of removing and replacing concrete, depending on the application you choose. In addition, it adds color, pattern, and style to your home or business.
Q. How do I clean my ACD Coating?
A. Normal washing with a hose is recommended. For a stubborn stain, brush it with laundry detergent or any type of citrus acid cleaner. Pressure washing (less than 3000 psi) is recommended once or twice a year.
Q. What is the temperature comparison between the ACD Coating and concrete?
A. The ACD Coating is up to approximately 25% cooler than concrete, depending on the application you choose.
